Celebrating 60 Years of L’Oreal
L’Oréal South Africa has been shaping the beauty landscape for 60 years with innovative products that celebrate local diversity.
In a heartfelt event in Johannesburg, attendees, including industry leaders, partners, and employees, took an intimate look back at L’Oréal’s journey through a specially curated documentary showcasing the company’s innovations and contributions to South African society. This celebration honoured not just beauty, but the people behind it—employees, consumers, and communities that have played vital roles in L’Oréal’s success.
“Beauty is personal, and at L’Oréal, we create products that resonate with the heart and soul of our consumers. What drives us is the desire to make people feel seen, valued, and empowered. Whether it’s through innovative products that respect our planet or partnerships that uplift communities, we are committed to making a difference.”
– CEO Serge Sacré.

A lively panel discussion featured L’Oréal leaders, including Celeste Tema, sustainability leader for Sub-Saharan Africa, and TV personality Claire Mawisa. They shared insights on sustainability, diversity, and L’Oréal’s future vision. The message was clear: L’Oréal is here for the long haul, ready to embrace the next 60 years with the same passion and drive that have fueled its journey thus far.
We were thrilled by a vibrant dance performance, symbolising L’Oréal’s continued growth and optimism. Attendees left feeling inspired by the company’s remarkable past and excited for the innovations yet to come. The event closed with a visit to L’Oréal’s laboratory, which is a state of the art facility, focussing mainly on the study and research of ethnic hair care.
