The Aerosol Manufacturers' Association of South Africa (AMA) plays a number of important roles:
- The Association is the "voice" of the South African Aerosol Industry and acts on behalf of the industry on a variety of issues, from legislation to the setting of national standards. It is also a founder member of the International Aerosol Liaison Committee, a forum made up of approximately 30 countries, (including the USA, Europe, South America, Australia, China and India) who meet annually in Europe or other international venues to exchange views, assess standards and compare notes on developments on various issues relevant to the aerosol industry
- A vital function of the Assocation is its interaction with other similar and relevant local and international organisations, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) etc.
- By virtue of this extensive networking, it has access to international sources on a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, global technical specifications, trends, environmental issues and new developments. It makes this information available to its Members and where appropriate also to consumers, schools and others.
- Invaluable training resources provided by the Association, ensure that employers and employees of the industry are fully au fait with the complexities of the manufacturing processes of aerosol products.
